Safe makers in United States

Standard in force: UL 687 and UL 1037. Certifying bodies: UL.

A different scale entirely: minutes of net working time, plus RSC for residential products.

Where the grades come from Every grade below is read from a certifying body's own public register: the ECB·S product locator, which lists each certified model with its grade, and the VdS register, which also publishes the certificate number. The figure is the company's highest grade for a free-standing safe — most of a range sits lower, so the plate inside the door of the safe in front of you is what counts. “Unverified” means we have not found the company in a register we can read — a statement about our search, not about the product. Registers checked 14 Oct 2026.

Grades are EN 1143-1. CD — also tested against core drilling; EX — against explosives; T2 — with the extended tool set introduced in 2019, explained here. VdS writes grade 0 as “N”; it is shown here as 0. Sites were reachable on the date recorded in our register. “Not confirmed” under Founded means exactly that: the year is repeated all over the trade press, and we have not yet seen a source worth citing.
